A day in the life of a teacher educator in Austria

The opportunity entails job-shadowing of the current scientific managing director of the teacher training department at the University of Salzburg in Austria. Everyday agendas to be shadowed include research and teaching activities in the pedagogical areas of teacher training with focus on topics such as classroom management, teacher-student relationships, developmental psychology and dealing with behavioral problems in the classroom as well as general didactic and planning skills.

Other shadowing activities regard management agendas regarding the organization, administration and development of the local teacher training program, internationalization activities including student mobility in teacher training, and teaching and learning in higher education. This placement is thus particularly suited to academic colleagues working or interested in teacher education with focus on the thematic areas mentioned above, but also to administrative staff concerned with the administration of teacher training programs, internationalization issues or from teaching and learning centres. No specific skills are required, but some knowledge of German is beneficial especially for attending meetings or classes.
