Remote access details Open to CIVIS but not external users. The Transgenic Mouse Facility has developed most key aspects involved in generation and optimal handling of transgenic mice, including development of new mouse models (addition transgenics and ES gene targeting), as well as more standard mouse supporting services such as mouse rederivation and sperm and embryos cryopreservation procedures. All the services are accessible through the Mouse Transgenic Facility

Equipment A largSupport services for the use of mouse models 1. Cryopreservation of mouse embryos and / or sperm allows users to preserve mouse lines from losses associated with infections (epizootics), crossbreeding problems that some transgenic animals may present, management or genotyping errors/issues in breedings which can lead to the loss of certain lines and to reduc the maintenance costs associated with housing unused animals. 2. The rederivation of lines towards an SPF status allow users to have SPF lines, when the context of their experiment requires it, both for sending these mice to other SPF animal facilities and for carrying out experimental protocols requiring a clean immunological context. 3. The "cryo-distribution" service allows researchers to securely exchange samples cryopreserved by the Platform or by their international collaborators and to improve the efficiency of the exchange of transgenic lines. Transgenic model creation services 1. Generation of addition transgenic mice to a gain of function. 2. The generation of Knock-Out / Knock-In mice using the CRISPR / Cas9 technique Generation of chimeric transgenic mice based on a homologous recombination protocol in ES cells to target a specific locus and to generate direct or conditionnal gene invalidation e and complete description of the services provided by the CIREM’s infrastructure is available here : https://cirem.ulb.be/

Description The Platform revolves mainly around support services for the use of transgenic models (cryopreservation of mouse embryos and / or sperm, the rederivation or transfer of lines from conventional status to SPF status and line revitalization by IVF. / in vitro fertilization (IVF)) and around the services of creation of transgenic models (generation of addition transgenic mice by microinjection of zygote, Knock-Out / Knock-In mice using the CRISPR / Cas9 technique or chimeric transgenic mice (aggregation of recombinant Es cells)). The Platform can also provide its expertise to researchers during projects related to transgenesis (construction of transgenesis, implementation of the genotyping strategy for future transgenic animals, management of the colony) An additional service for the reception and transfer of living embryos has also been implemented, making it possible to work with European laboratories and avoid sending frozen material or live mice.
