BBCD/IBPM Cellular Imaging Platform

OVERVIEW
Acronym BICIP
Partner institution

Sapienza Università di Roma

Description

The research infrastructure includes upright and inverted microscopes for wide field, confocal and confocal spinning disk imaging. Instruments enable fluorescence, bright field and contrast techniques applications, for the observation of biological samples of animal and vegetal origin. Applications include high resolution imaging of sub-cellular structures, detecting molecular interactions, time-lapse recording of live cells over several days, co-localisation studies. The platform provides opportunities for coupling dynamic studies with high resolution qualitative and quantitative image analysis of cells and cellular structures. Workstations with advanced imaging softwares are in place, and workflows for automated image acquisition and analyses are established. Both qualitative and a wide range of quantitative measures and information on the molecules or cells that are being imaged can be extracted.
