SPATIAL

OVERVIEW
Acronym SPATIAL-PTA
Partner institution

Aix-Marseille Université

Description

SPATIAL is specialized in the assembly, integration and testing of instruments and opto-mechanical systems
opto, as well as in thermal vacuum and cryogenic qualification, vibration qualification, and precision mechanical metrology.
SPATIAL is especially designed for filling the needs of major nowadays projects such as ESA's EUCLID space mission and ESO's future very large European telescope ELT.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Remote access details

Research project activities of the local scientific communities are prioritized. Nevertheless, an access to external communities, may they be academic or from the privat sectors can be also provided upon request. An audit of the potential users' project will allow defining the fee.

AMENITIES
Equipment

The SPATIAL facility is made of two centers:
-POLARIS robotic polishing centre, to design, robotic production by stress polishing, and testing of large, highly aspherical optical parts (up to 2.5 m in diameter),
-SPATIAL AIT/AIV centre consisting of 940 m2 of classified rooms (ISO5,7, and 8) to assembly, integrate, test and calibrate components and instruments with an opto-mechanical core in the UV-visible-IR field, and within a space environment (tanks for optical vacuum up to 50m3).
