Equipment
The facility RADIOACTIVITY includes the following equipment:
-a liquid scintillation counter Tricarb A2910 Perkin Elmer with sealed source 133Ba,
-a liquid scintillation Hidex 300 SL,
-a liquid scintillation Hidex 300 SLL with an automatic sampler,
-a liquid scintillation Triatler for fieldwork.

Online booking system details
The access to the facility is under controlled and required a radio-protection certificate from ASN. Because of these constraints, the facility is therefore only open to MIO members.

Description
Hosted by the MIO research laboratory, RADIOACTIVITE consists of specific lab spaces that are dedicated to radio-elements manipulation from marine contexts. The facility also includes storage rooms for nuclear waste under the ASN authority ('Autorité de Sûreté Nucléaire').
More into details, the RADIOACTIVITY allows manipulating classical isotopes to measure the potential absorption of biogenic elements (e.g., 14C for primary production, 33P for phosphorus absorption, 32Si for silicium absorption and 3H for bacterial production). Other isotopes such as 35S and 55Fe can also be used on request.
