BIOMASS is open to scientific communities of both the academic and private sectors, upon request.
Production of microbial biomass from a commercial or isolated strain Production of extremophilic microorganisms Development of culture conditions and optimization Metabolic study.
Among the services provided by BIOMASS are the production and characterization of microorganisms and resulting proteins (e.g., bacteria, archea, yeast from commercial or isolated strains, also inlcuding extremophilic microorganisms) for either molecular or metabolism studies, as well as for understanding their biomolecular interactions.
These for instance include:
- cloning and purification of 3D proteins under anaerobic or aerobic conditions,
- quality control and biophysical/physicochemical characterization,
- study of protein-protein, protein-ligand and protein-nucleic acid interactions,
- study of biolayer interferometry Isothermal microcalorimetry.
Assistance is provided for on each axis by a specific engineer, who is also ahead in charge of selecting the potential users' project to be implemented using BIOMASS.
The 'microorganism production' axis mainly focuses on complex environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, pH, anaerobic conditions) and involves bioenergy, biomass degradation, and bioremediation processes.
The 'protein' axis mainly focuses on the expression of recalcitrant proteins as well as of those from non-conventional systems.
BIOMASS also offers a 3D purification service under anaerobic conditions. Finally, users may benefit from the on-site staff expertise in quality control of biomolecules (e.g., nanoparticles, liposomes...) and in biomolecular interaction.
