A new staff week for the CIVIS community takes participants from the fundamentals of service-learning (SL) to hands-on work. This hybrid staff training is open for applications until February 11!
Main topics addressed
A first online session will be dedicated to introducing participants to the fundamentals of SL and to share experienced on how to design and implement a SL project. As a follow-up to this 1st session, online resources (theoretical contents and exercises) will be shared, in an asynchronous mode on the Moodle platform, to allow participants to study them at their own pace, but also to inspire them.
In the second online session, participants will have the opportunity to present their ideas for a project and work in groups with the objective of developing a draft SL project. The expert speakers will go from a group to another to give input and help designing the projects.
Before the face-to-face session, participants will get access to more specific readings on various related issues, and materials (e.g., filled-out templates with the description of designed projects, rubrics for evaluation, materials for reflection, etc).
A detailed schedule will be shared with the participants.
During the face-to-face mobility, participants will have the opportunity to improve the design of their projects in collaboration with the other participants and the Service Learning experts. An in-depth training will be provided, focusing on specific issues such as evaluation, reflection, dissemination, research and publication, e-SL, ... A visit to a community local partner of an active SL project in Marseille is also planned. Furthermore, the possibility of creating a CIVIS service-learning network and its organisation will be discussed.
