Professional growth
Administrative and technical staff
Wiii is a two-day training course targeting mid-level administrative staff members already engaged in or familiar with the internationalization processes in their university, e.g. people working in welcome centers, HR, research services, libraries, secretariats, dormitories, advising/well-being/disability offices, where they come in contact with an
international public such as exchange students, foreign researchers, visiting professors, etc.
Objectives and topics addressed
The objective is to expand the knowledge of the participants on the importance of internationalization for our universities by focusing on its added value - while remaining aware of its challenges. The topics addressed will include a historical point of view on international education and research, definitions and key concepts, global trends, advantages and difficulties, multilingualism, and intercultural competence. A specific focus on CIVIS will provide information about the benefits of the European University Alliances for their member institutions as well as about the opportunities that they open for faculties, students and staff.
Through presentations and fun activities, participants will discover that there is more to internationalization than they usually perceive in their daily work. They will also put themselves in the shoes of an international student or researcher, and reflect on the best ways to overcome the problematic situations they sometimes face.
