Professional growth
Administrative and technical staff
What if the future of higher education was already here—and you could help shape it?
Supported by Erasmus+, CIVIS has reimagined international mobility through the living laboratory of Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), combining online learning with short in-person stays. In just three years, CIVIS has launched over 200 BIPs, engaging more than 5,000 students and staff across Europe. These short, modular, and interdisciplinary learning experiences are redefining what mobility and flexibility mean in higher education.
Now, for the first time, we’re opening the doors to a select group of higher education professionals beyond the CIVIS Alliance to join us at the University of Bucharest, from 8 to 10 October 2025, for a hands-on exploration of the CIVIS BIP model.
Whether you're an academic or a member of the administrative staff working on internationalisation, this is your chance to:
- Learn how to design and implement flexible, learner-centred BIPs.
- Explore how modular education supports lifelong learning and academic interoperability.
- Discover practical tools for designing inclusive, interdisciplinary programmes
- Explore a framework for embedding mobility and digital integration into curricula
- Connect with peers across Europe who are reimagining curricula to meet diverse learner needs.
What to Expect
The programme is designed to equip participants with the tools, insights, and strategies needed to implement flexible, modular learning formats that respond to the evolving needs of students and institutions alike.
You will explore:
- How to design and deliver high-quality BIPs that combine online learning with short-term mobility
- How to use BIPs to support more inclusive, personalised, and accessible education
- How modular formats like BIPs can be integrated into broader curricula or offered as standalone learning experiences
- How to foster international collaboration and digital innovation through flexible programme design
Sessions will be hands-on and example-driven, with space for peer exchange and practical experimentation.
By the end of the staff week, participants will be able to:
- Analyse strategies for implementing flexible learning pathways in higher education to address diverse learner needs and enhance access, personalization, and mobility.
- Analyse the strategic role of BIPs within CIVIS as a key format for advancing international collaboration, enabling modular education, and fostering interdisciplinary engagement;
- Design a learner-centered, modular Blended Intensive Programme that effectively combines academic content with physical and virtual mobility, using innovative and inclusive teaching methods;
- Recognize the value of BIPs in building modular education pathways that enable flexible curricula, support lifelong learning, and ensure academic interoperability across institutions.
Regardless of your institution's participation in the European University initiative, this is your opportunity to learn directly from the CIVIS experience and apply it in your own context.
