Facilitating and Finalising a COIL Course

Turn your COIL idea into a course  and find the people and funding to take it forward  


Join us for the final workshop (3) in the COIL series (1 and 2 material is available on CIVS MOODLE): a highly interactive, small-group session designed to move your idea from concept to action. You will have the option to explore the University of Glasgow’s COIL Curriculum Mapping Tool as a practical way of visualising and refining your course design, while also taking part in structured activities focused on collaboration and next steps.

Before the session, participants will prepare a short half-ignite talk introducing their teaching, research and emerging COIL idea. These profiles will be uploaded to a shared matching Padlet, accessible to all participants in advance and after the workshop, and especially useful during the live session for identifying potential collaborators and making purposeful connections.

The workshop will also create space to think beyond course design. Promising ideas and partnerships developed through the session may provide the basis for future internal institutional funding applications, CIVIS opportunities, or applications to external funders.

By the end of the session, you should leave with a clearer COIL concept, new potential collaborators, and a stronger foundation for developing your idea into a course, project or funding proposal.

  • Places are limited up to 35 only to keep the session interactive, focused and genuinely useful for collaboration. 
  • The registration for the workshop is open till 10th of September 2026 at 12 PM CET. 
  • The workshop will be held on 11th September 2026 from 9 to 10:30 (UTC), please fill in the registration link below as soon as possible. 
  • The University of Glasgow will host the workshop, and the language of instruction will be English.
