Languages in Europe and their diachronies (Focus on historical language contact)
Online winter school: March 27-31, 2023 Linguistic and computational historical linguistic intensive classes, lectures and masterclasses aiming at an advanced knowledge of the methodology of describing, analyzing and explaining the grammar and the development of ancient languages. Online workshops: April - July 2023, dates to be announced (one day every second or third week, from April to July) Small computational historical linguistic projects “From texts to grammar” Explore the past & present of European languages and advance your knowledge on modern theoretical approaches to the study of ancient languages.

Advanced BA classes and lectures of the online winter school and the face-to-face summer school are open to advanced Bachelor students at the CIVIS member Universities majoring in Linguistics/ Languages (Classical Languages - Medieval, Modern European Languages)/ History/ Archaeology/ Classics/ Medieval Literature.
Master classes and lectures of the online winter school and the face-to-face summer school are open to MA and PhD students at the CIVIS member Universities majoring in Linguistics/ Languages (Classical Languages - Medieval, Modern European Languages)/ History/ Archaeology/ Classics/ Medieval Literature.

This CIVIS course is a blended-learning programme that consists of an intensive online Spring School, online workshops and an intensive Summer School (40 hours of face-to-face classes) that will be held in Naxos, Greece in July 2023.
Selected students will be supported by a grant for physical mobility to Greece.
